If to you the name “Glass Lounge” conjures up images of sleek, sophisticated seating and ultra mod decor, you’re not alone. However, you’ll find a very different, but altogther very pleasant atmosphere at this unassuming little dive up river.

Though not much to look at on the outside, it does drop a few hints of the good things to come by the “Best Of” award posters pasted to the side of the building. And, it definitely delivers, at least in the red meat category.

That being said, this is not a place for vegetarians. Every place setting comes with a steak knife and you’re expected to use it. With heaping plates of meat in front of us, we dove into a lively discussion about a new name for our group. Once unveiled, I think you’ll see that this location provided great fodder for us.

So, in a nutsell, the atmosphere was very comfortable and homey, the service was pleasant and the steak was delicious!

Can you say red meat??? That is what this place does best, as Meg mentioned each spot had a monster steak knife, ready to slice a big fat piece of steak.

As you sit down and look around at the place you realize that where you are eating at should not be called the Glass Lounge, but instead something like “Front Street Bar and Grill”.

If you do get a chance to get there make sure you have some type of meat, as it is really good and fairly reasonable pricewise as well (The cheapest item with steak is the steak salad…not a bad choice)

p.s. Their BBQ sauce is also really good…Don’t you think Arif?

I think it is an inherent trait that men cry at the sight of good meat. Seriously. There is something embedded in our DNA that compels us to search, just like a satellite combing for life in space (okay, bad analogy but you get the point) for a piece of meat so good, that it simply redefine’s our existence. And good meat is hard to find these days. So you can imagine my joy when I saw the word’s “Harrisburg’s Reader’s Choice 2006″ subcategorized by different types of meat on banners hanging at the entrance to the restaurant. I have to admit, having starved myself all day, seeing those banners almost made me frolic in utmost bliss right to my table. It’s a shame that frolicking is socially unacceptable.

The place was nothing like what I expected. Honestly, at that point I didn’t even care, the sight and smell of meat was like a soothing balm to my hungry soul. (Okay, okay I’ll stop, I promise!) You would think the name “Glass Lounge” would allude to delicate, fragile, classy images but this certainly wasn’t the case. I have a confession, I was kinda hoping this could be the type of place which I could add to my arsenal of date places but I have learnt the hard way that seriously chowing down on meat isn’t necessarily the most attractive trait!

The food was good, the service was great. If you’re hungering for a good burger or steak, then this certainly is a great place to go but does expect elegance, just good old fashioned meat. Happy hunting!

I’ll admit that I made the easy assumption of “The Glass Lounge” being a classy “la-ti-da” restaurant…boy, was I wrong. I feel as though if I had the chance to rename the restaurant I would give it a name more along the lines of “The Styrofoam Hut”. (Ok, not really.)

All jokes aside on the name, the food was delicious. This place is definitely a meat lovers haven! The atmosphere was very relaxed and the service was pretty decent. Being the “sweet tooth” that I am, I was not too impressed with the dessert selection. The good part is that the portion size of most of their meals doesn’t allow much room for dessert and you find yourself not wanting to leave an ounce of meat on the plate.

All in all, it was a good experience…great food, decent service & reasonable prices!
