Dorado it is!!! Take a peek at the reviews below and find out what you have been missing out on, if you have never visited here. I’d been to Dorado in the past, but it’s been about 2 years since my last visit. I remembered it fondly as a cool, new place with a great menu (if you like Seafood). I wish the Dorado of today lived up to my memories! Although the appearance inside and out was pretty nice and the menu was still pretty robust, the service had definitely taken a nosedive. Maybe our waitress was having a bad day (we tried to probe there, unsucessfully I might add), but whatever the case we really seemed underappreciated and underserved. When we left around 9pm the place was dead, which I guess is probably normal for a weeknight, but it was kinda creepy. It’d be interesting to come back on a weekend, but even the delicious seafood nachos aren’t enough to tempt me. I wonder if they do take out?

You win some and you lose some - we lost at Dorado. By far the best and most enjoyable aspect of the meal at Dorado was the company.

At first appearance Dorado seems like a nice, pseudo trendy restaurant that would have unique dishes and an engaging and fun waitstaff. Our lady must have been off that night. It certainly wasn’t a horrible experience, but it left me scratching my head and thinking that I should tip her with customer service tips instead of cash. I chose a steak salad for my meal and for the most part it was good - with the exception of the steak being a bit on the chewy side. I don’t get steak often, but I don’t think it is supposed to be chewy.

I think it speaks to the experience we had when there was almost half of a piece of chocolate cake left on the table at the end of the meal. Who leaves chocolate cake?! I mean its CHOCOLATE CAKE!

You win some and you lose some.

I try my best to not be a negative person… but there was definitely some that slipped into my tip the night of our Dorado experience…

The night started off well… The company and atmosphere of the were great, the menu looked “interesting” (but I guess so do most menus at 7:45 p.m. if you haven’t had dinner yet… whoops).

I had a Thai Chicken salad. It had pork BBQ and seasoned chicken so I figured it couldn’t be that bad… Overall it was a good choice the combination of BBQ, chicken and Thai dressing were actually very interesting. The only qualm was the “overly ripe” lettuce.

So all in all… If you plan on making the stop on the way home from the east shore some night for dinner I would suggest going the takeout route…
